Establishing the objects creative purpose
1. Although I feel most confident in cinematography, lighting and editing I would like to do a lesson on something more theoretical. Recently, I have done a lot of reading on feminism in film and Queer theory in film and I think that its important that people learn about the adaptation of film so that they represent a larger audience.
2. I would much rather do a lesson on a theoretical aspect of film because most people I know, especially in my class in college, know about the practical aspects of film such as editing and sound, therefore it would be unnecessary for me to teach it again, even more so because we are doing a vocational course. Also, I believe that most people don't learn enough about the theoretical side of film and especially an understanding of feminism in both ordinary life and in film.
3. I hope to teach a 30 minute lesson about Feminist film theory in which I will discuss why women aren't often shown in films and when they do, why are they shown in a sexual or insignificant way. This talk would touch upon the history film, mainly classic Hollywood as well as, Freudian theory, psychoanalysis and different famous women who were active within the film industry. If I have more time, I would like to add a section of Queer theory and the portrayal of the LGBT+ community within film and film production as well.
4. I will give a PowerPoint demonstration to my media class in college during which I will give some handouts and facts of different women.
