4. Overall the arts challenge was a very difficult but insightful experience to have. I was able to work with a variety of equipment that I hadn't been able to use before such as different forms of grip and sound equipment. Additionally, I was able to visit lots of exciting places like the NFTS as well as meet with people from across the film industry who were able to provide me with a range of knowledge about their careers and the film industry. Although, no experience was alike, it provided me with an abundance of knowledge about different pathways to achieve the career I want as well as ways to improve my future work in film making. Even though, I found it difficult to work with my group at times, it developed my skills as a leader as I was able to take control of a situation and complete the aim such as filming, despite being incredibly nervous or under pressure. This experience of leading a group will be important as I want to pursue a career as a director and I shouldn't be afraid of speaking up or expressing my ideas. It was also important as I was able to learn from my mistakes during production and post-production , there were errors within our film but the space we were working in and the equipment we were using such as the different lights and gels meant we had to work relatively quickly and adapt our ideas to fit with the space. The lights can be confusing in conveying a message and can seem quite random but I think it makes sense and I will definitely think about more locations and using lighting during post production next time.
